Shoring - An architecture of craft
Dispatches | No. 2
I spent July/August thinking the work was the threshold. A sentence in the first issue would not stay put. I moved it from the middle of a paragraph to the end, then onto its own line, then back again.
THE DESK
We often think of writing as an act of accumulation, of pressing ink to paper until the white space vanishes beneath a crowd of characters.
THE LEDGER
The latest book releases from Phillip Shabazz.
THE NOTEBOOK
In the opening poem of this issue, "Square One," there is a line that states: Each line opens a door.
Welcome to the inaugural issue of Dispatches.
This project arrives out of a desire for space, focus, and utility. Configured as a monthly gathering of ideas, Dispatches is a quiet room in a loud digital world, a place dedicated to the structural precision of creative work, the deep architecture of literary craft, and the practical magic of education.
